Brighter Eyes

Breathe a sigh of relief

For these brief moments of peace

I never thought they’d be welcome

But I’m grateful for the rest

You never know how fast you’re running

‘Till you stop and see you’re two feet are bleeding

And your lungs, lungs, you lungs are heaving for air

But I see the sun

I take in the gold

Take in the golden light

I see the sun

With brighter eyes

They say this world’s fallin’ wayward

But isn’t that how it’s always been and always will be

Every time has their chaos and their crisis

If you let it, it’ll be never-ending

So as I sit in the darkness

The shadows cross the ceiling in the evening

I watch them, watch them, watch them in their moving

And I wave them goodbye

‘Cause I see the sun

Fighting its way

Fighting its way through the slats in the blinds

And I take in the morning

Take in the morning ‘cause

I see the sun

I see the sun now

With brighter eyes

I wanna be like the sun

Be the silver in the lining

I wanna carry the light

I wanna see with

Brighter eyes
